Key Fob. This type is probably the most popular. So, what is the principle of its work? Basically, you press the button on your key fob, which transmits the signal to the receiver inside your car. It sends the command for your door to open or close. These keys run on batteries.
Mechanical Car Key. They’re mainly used for older car models. They’re less expensive and don’t require any batteries. However, they can’t provide the same security level as modern keys.
Transponder Car Key. This key type looks just like a regular mechanical key. There’s a plastic shell and a metallic part of the key. However, it’s not as simple as it may seem. When you put it into the ignition, it sends a coded signal and starts your car.
Remote Key. This type of key is pretty similar to the key fob. The main difference is that it has both buttons and the actual key. You need to protect this key from heat, moisture, and anything else that can damage it.
Switchblade Car Key. They are similar to transponder keys, only the design is different. The metallic part pops out when you push the button. It’s really convenient, and the key can be stored in your bag or pocket.
Valet Car Key. The name of this key speaks for itself. It’s meant for a valet. Basically, it’s like a spare key with limited functions.
