Key Duplication
Did you know that it’s possible to make a new key without the original one? There’s nothing a professional locksmith can’t do. So, let’s look at some of the ways you can get a key duplicate.
Cutting the key by the code. This method is pretty simple. Locksmiths receive all the information about the key from a serial number. You can find the number in the manual, so it’s always better to save it. After the technicians receive all the details, they’ll use a key cutting machine and a key blank to make a new key.
Impression the lock. This method is much more complicated than the first one. It requires a lot of skills and knowledge. A locksmith has to choose an appropriate key blank, sharpen the edges and insert it in the keyhole. Then it needs to be carefully turned to mark where the pins are. Only after that can a locksmith make a new key.
Disassemble the lock. This method would be more of a last measure if the previous two didn’t work. Only a professional technician can perform this task. So, basically, the technician disassembles the lock and examines it to create a new key.
So, even if you lose a key, a professional technician will be able to provide you with a new one. However, it’s always better to act beforehand. So, you may get a spare key and hide it somewhere to use it in case of an emergency.
